Two-thirds of the campus has migrated to Zoom Phone. Concurrent with our transition of the College’s campus telephone system, we are officially transitioning our campus faxing infrastructure. As mentioned in our first communications to campus about the Zoom Phone project, physical fax machines will be replaced with an electronic fax (e-fax) service. This change eliminates most of the physical fax machines currently in use and replaces them with a secure, streamlined digital solution.

The primary advantage of this transition is that every faculty and staff member with a dedicated Zoom extension now has the capability to send and receive faxes directly through their personal line. This approach allows you to manage documents entirely within the Zoom application on your computer or mobile device. This not only removes the need to use shared physical machines but also ensures documents are delivered privately to your secure account rather than being left at a public printing station.

While the College continues to transition to the Zoom Phone system, we recognize that certain departments have unique legal or medical compliance requirements. To support these essential services, a limited number of physical fax machines will remain in place where hardware is required for necessity. Departments with known compliance needs have already been consulted to ensure their ongoing requirements are met. As we continue to roll out the Zoom Phone system, the transition team in ITS will begin the physical disconnection of departmental fax lines in copiers and other hardware.
